ASUS in association with Intel and Microsoft announced today the launch of India´s first netbook - Eee PC™ 1000H powered by Intel(R) AtomTM processor. This innovative offering from ASUS aims at changing the way computing is perceived by user segments like housewives, senior citizens, travelers, social networking enthusiasts, teenagers and for people who desire an extra PC for basic computing applications, listening to music, e-mailing and surfing the Internet.

ICC Champions Trophy 2008 to be hosted in Pakitsan

ICC has reiterated the decision of the Board is that the event remains in Pakistan.

The ICC Champions Trophy, the game’s second “major” after the ICC Cricket World Cup, is a short, sharp event involving the top eight teams in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship table as of 11 March 2008.

Those teams will be divided into two groups with three round-robin matches for each, before the top two line-ups from each of those groups go forward to semi-finals and a final.

The defending champion is Australia, which beat the West Indies in the 2006 final, in Mumbai, India.

Nepal abuses against Tibetans

The government of Nepal, under pressure from China, has arbitrarily arrested hundreds of Tibetans and restricted their right to demonstrate against the March 2008 crackdown in Tibet, Human Rights Watch said in a new a report today.

Human Rights Watch called on Nepal to respect Tibetans’ rights to free expression and assembly, and for China to end its pressure campaign against Nepal.

7 Point Reform Agenda Submitted To PM & FM By ASSOCHAM

The ASSOCHAM President, Mr. Sajjan Jindal on Wednesday submitted Seven point reform agenda to Prime Minister and Finance Minister, urging to hasten reforms in the changed coalition arrangements of the UPA government.

The key areas in which reforms process is urgently sought by the ASSOCHAM include agriculture, labour without hire and policy, insurance, pension funds, civil aviation, retail and FDIs particularly the Press Note 1, explained the ASSOCHAM Chief.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Tuesday Pakistan offers best investment opportunities to foreign investors, especially in the energy sector, adding the government would fully facilitate initiatives for setting up oil refineries in the country.

He was talking to Fazal Rahim, President, International Oil Company (IOC) of USA at the Prime Minister House. The Prime Minister said that current energy requirements of the world has enhanced the need to open new avenues and Pakistan being on the doorstep of energy corridor of Central Asia provides best option.
