India were held to a 1-1 draw by Malaysia in their friendly match played at Lal Bahadur Stadium Hyderabad on Tuesday. Both the goals were scored in the second half of the match.For India Bhaichung Bhutia converted a chance in the 57th minute after he got a deflection from Sunil Chhetri . Indra Putra scored the equalizer for Malaysia through a Penalty awarded by Referee S Suresh in the 80th minute after a foul by Anwar inside the box .India missed a chance in the first half when a Free Kick from Climax Lawrence just went over the bar. Malaysia maintained pressure in the last fifteen minutes of the match.

In his post match comments ,Coach Bob Houghton said that it was a good match from technical point of view as India were able to play Surkumar Singh and K Ajayan.He said that Malaysia was a good opposition and played a Technically very competitive game.

Speaking to Media after the match Malaysian Coach B Sathianathan said India gave a tough time in the second half. He said winning Merdeka Tournament was good.He said that we need longer time to prepare teams for International Matches.
